USAC Ford Focus competition is slated in four states this weekend as battles for series point leads continues. Virginia, California, Indiana and Ohio all host events.
Bradley Riethmeyer leads the Carolina Richard Petty Driving Experience Series to Shenandoah (Va.) Speedway Saturday, holding a nine-point lead over Tanner Swanson.
Nic Faas, who finished second at Hanford, Calif. last Saturday, leads the California Dirt Series to Ventura Raceway this Saturday, 26 points ahead of Walt Johnson, who finished third at Hanford. Robby Josett of Santa Clarita, Calif. won the race at Kings Speedway in Hanford Saturday, leading the final 16 laps after passing Ricky Kirkbride. Josett was the 2006 Ventura Raceway Junior Focus Champion. Faas (second) amd Johnson (third) were followed by Kirkbride and Jet Davison at the checkered flag.
Chett Gehrke of Broken Arrow, Okla. leads the Indiana Focus contingent back to Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. Wednesday night, three points ahead of Eric Fehrman and Robby Parish. Fehrman, of Greensburg, Ind., won last Wednesday's New Castle 30-lapper, leading the final seven laps in his Del Taco/Indy Concrete Beast. Parish finished second ahead of Alison MacLeod, Tyler Irwin and Craig Haack. James Robertson, Gehrke and Parish led before yielding to Fehrman.
Robertson, of Indianapolis, Ind., trails Gehrke by 15 points in the Midwest Ford Focus standings going into Friday night's race at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio. Robertson won last Saturday's 30-lap Midwest/Indiana Focus feature at Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway in the Gregg Steele Racing Lucas Oil Beast. He took the lead from Craig Haack on lap two and led the rest of the way to beat Gehrke, Tyler Irwin, Haack and Jordan Pennington.
Tim Savage, of Herriman, Utah, won Saturday night's 20-lap Auto Trader USAC Utah Developmental Focus Series race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City. He took the lead on the final lap after Trevor Miran spun while leading. Miran had led the first 19 laps of the race. Jeff Kelley, Caitlin Shaw, James Powell and Chuck Groat rounded out the "top-10." Savage drove the South Valley Collision Center Stealth. The Utah Developmental Series resumes May 28 in the Utah capital.
