Chris Rahe of Placentia, Calif. and Robbie Ray of Davenport, Iowa notched USAC Ford Focus Midget feature victories last week. The Carolina/Virginia series returns to Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, N.C. Saturday night, while the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome also hosts another Traderindiana.com and Wheels and Deals "Open Wheel Wednesday" program this Wednesday. The Midwest series event originally slated at South Bend (Ind.) Motor Speedway this Friday night has been removed from the 2004 calendar.

Rahe led all but the opening lap of Saturday night's California South feature at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway, while Ray led all but six laps of Sunday night's Midwest thriller at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc.

Trailing Rahe's Panelite Eng./JMI Stealth at Ventura were Chase Barber, who led the opening lap, Steve Koster, Jr., Bobby Michnowicz and Ryan Pace. The win extended Rahe's California South series lead to 35 points over Barber.

Trenton Darland battled Ray for the victory at Sun Prairie in one of the most spectacular Midwest Focus features to date. Darland took the lead on lap 20 but relinquished it on lap 26, then battled Ray to the checkered flag, falling just short. Brandon Hartsell, Brice Kenyon and Jordan Noblitt rounded out the "top-five." Ray, the defending Midwest champion, wheeled the Valvoline/Simpson Beast to the victory.

Ryan Litt of Lyons, Ontario, Canada continues to lead the Midwest series, which now gears up for a July 3 race at Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, Ill. Tate Martz, who had won a record four consecutive Midwest feature events, encountered mechanical problems while challenging the leaders Sunday at Sun Prairie, Wisc.

Chase Scott of Concord, N.C. leads the Carolina/Virginla standings going into Friday's race at Elkin, N.C.
