USAC's 2004 Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series concludes this weekend at the Lakeville (Ohio) Speedway and Tate Martz of Rushville, Ind. hopes to hang on for his first USAC driving title, leading Rex Norris III by 59 points entering the program. A 30-lap feature caps Saturday night's action.

Chris Rahe of Placentia, Calif., Brit Andersen of Branford, Conn. and Mike Ward of Charlotte, N.C. all posted USAC Ford Focus wins last weekend.

Rahe led all 40 laps of Saturday night's California North race at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway in his Panelite Eng./JMI Stealth to beat fast qualifier Bobby Grewohl, Josh Lakatos, Bobby McGowan and Nick Morago. The victory left him 60 points behind series leader Bradley Galedrige, who finished sixth at Madera. The North series concludes October 23 at Bakersfield, Calif., while the South series, led by Rahe, continues this Saturday night at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.

Andersen and Ward earned their initial USAC feature triumphs in Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus action at the Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway, winning Saturday night's 25-lappers. Anderson passed Aron Oakley on the eighth lap of the first of two Real Race Cars, Inc. Inversion Challenge features and led the rest of the way in his Citriz Software Systems/Goody's Hardware Beast to beat Robbie Ray, Oakley, series point leader Chase Scott and Michael Sboro.

Starting last in the second 25-lapper, Andersen finished sixth in the nightcap, won by Ward in his Ward Enterprises/Suzuki of Gastonia Beast. Scott took second, followed by Sam Beam, Sboro and Oakley. The second 25-lapper did not offer series points. Ward led all 25 laps.

The Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Series continues with a 30-lap race at Anderson (S.C.) Motor Speedway.
