BOWMAN LEADS FOCUSES TO LVMS BULLRING; SWANSON, FERNS POST VICTORIES AT THE PAS

USAC National Ford Focus Champion Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. leads the USAC California Pavement and Utah Auto Trader Ford Focus Series to Las Vegas, Nev. this Saturday for races at the famed "Bullring."

Bowman leads both series after winning the 2009 opener at Lake Havasu City, Ariz. in February and looks to hang on to both point leads with another triumph Saturday.

Bowman finished third in last Saturday night's California Dirt Ford Focus feature at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway but had to "borrow" J.R. Williams car to do so after his own car had mechanical problems.

Jake Swanson of Anaheim, Calif. led all 20 laps to win at Perris. Dirt series point leader Nick Carlson was second, ahead of Bowman, Brody Roa and Nick Rossi.

Taylor Ferns of Shelby Township, Mich. won Saturday night's 15-lap California Junior Ford Focus feature at the Perris Auto Speedway. She took the lead from Casey Martinez on lap five and led the last 11 laps to beat Andrew Murray, Chasen Gaunt, Martinez and Kyle Edwards. She won a USAC Kenyon Midget feature last year at Anderson, Ind. and her win was the 37th in USAC history for a female driver.

The California Junior Focuses resume action April 11 at Ventura Raceway.
