"WEDNESDAY THUNDER" AT NEW CASTLE; KENYONS AT ANDERSON; ROBERTSON, MacLEOD & FITZPATRICK ALL #1 AT PLYMOUTH; CONLEY TAKES GRUNDY COUNTY KENYON FEATURE
"Wednesday Night Thunder" presented by the Richard Petty Driving Experience returns to Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. this week, with 30-lap features on tap for the Regional, Kenyon and Indiana Ford Focus Midgets.
James Robertson of Indianapolis, Ind. leads the Regional Midget standings after winning last Wednesday night's 30-lapper at the Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway in his Executive Homes/Robertson Drywall Beast/Pink Ford. He led the final four laps after passing David Gough, who led the first 26, on lap 27.Gough finished second ahead of Ricky Ehrgott, Robby Parish and Brent Beauchamp.
Chett Gehrke of Broken Arrow, Okla. leads the Indiana Ford Focus points after finishing second to Alison MacLeod of Mississauga, Ont., Canada in last Wednesday's race at Plymouth. MacLeod, in recording the 30th USAC feature win for a female, led the final 16 laps in her Clorox/Ford Racing Beast to beat Gehrke, Craig Haack, Eric Fehrman and Parish. Fehrman led the first 14 laps.
Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. leads the Kenyon standings after finishing fourth and third in races last week.
Blake Fitzpatrick of Terre Haute, Ind. won Wednesday's 30-lapper at Plymouth, leading the final 26 laps in his Fitzpatrick Funeral Home/Forsythe Racing Yamaha. Ryan Miller, Drew Charlson, Hamilton and Dakoda Armstrong rounded out the "top-five." Jeff WImmenauer led the first 14 laps and finished sixth. On Saturday, Cale Conley of Vienna, W.V. scored a 25-lap victory in an extremely competitive race at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. He and his Miller Excavating/Health Bridge Imaging Yamaha led Miller, Hamilton, Fitzpatrick and WImmenauer to the checkered flag. Wimmenauer led the first two laps, then Conley and Miller traded the lead back and fort for the next 10 before Conley finally grabbed the lead for good on lap 13.
