MOUNT LAWN "TRIPLE" & ANDERSON KENYONS ON TAP; WINS GO TO ARMSTRONG, FEHRMAN & CHARLSON (2)
Travis Young of Franklin, Ind, Steven Mathews of New Liskeard, Ont., Canada and Drew Charlson of New Bremen, Ohio lead the respective USAC "regional" racing series into Wednesday night's "Open Wheel Racing Extravaganza" program at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. The USAC Regional, Kenyon and Indiana Ford Focus Series all compete at New Castle, then the Kenyon Midgets race again Friday night at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.
Charlson scored his fourth feature victory of the 2008 USAC Kenyon Midget campaign Friday night at Anderson. Charlson led all 30 laps in his Century 21 Mid-America Properties/Aluma Trailer Yamaha to beat Caleb Armstrong, Jeff Wimmenauer, Dalton Armstrong and Mike Terry Jr.
Dakoda Armstrong of New Castle, Ind., Eric Fehrman of Greensburg, Ind. and Charlson captured USAC regional feature events Wednesday night at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway.
Zach Daum passed Armstrong on lap nine and led the final 22 laps of the 30-lap Regional Midget feature, but his car failed to pass post-race technical inspection, leaving Armstrong the winner in his Bungee North America/Anderson's Grain Beast/Mopar. Zach Schiff finished second ahead of series point leader Young, Jim Anderson and David Byrne. Anderson led the first five laps.
Fehrman led all 30 laps of the Midwest/Indiana/UMARA Ford Focus feature in his Del Taco/Indy Core Concrete & Drilling Beast, beating Mathews, Julia Landauer, Brad Greenup and Kyle Chady.
Charlson trailed Caleb Armstrong for most of the race, then led the final two laps to win the 30-lap Kenyon Midget feature in his Century 21 Mid-America Properties/Alum Trailer Yamaha.
