FOCUSES HEAD FOR TULSA & STOCKTON THIS WEEKEND
HARRIS BACK-TO-BACK WINNER AT IRWINDALE!
The brand-new USAC Oklahoma Ford Focus Midget Car Series debuts this weekend at Tulsa Speedway, while the California Pavement Series continues with a race which is part of the "Fred Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic" at Stockton 99 Speedway.
Dustin Morgan of Collinsville, Okla., who came within a whisker of winning USAC's February 19 indoor Focus race at DuQuoin, Ill., is expected to be among top candidates for victory in Saturday night's opener at the 3/8-mile dirt Tulsa oval. Top challengers are expected to include Jasiel Randolph of Tulsa, who finished third at DuQuoin, plus Oklahoma City's Matt Johnson. Saturday night's feature is scheduled for 25 laps.
Alex Harris of Simi Valley, Calif. led the final 30 laps of Saturday night's 35-lap USAC California Ford Focus Midget race at the Irwindale Speedway. The win was his second in a row at the 1/3-mile paved oval. Harris, who also won last weekend's 35-lapper, took the lead from Chris Veach on lap six and led the rest of Saturday's race to beat Chase Barber, Audra Sasselli, Benny Moon and Darrell Herzoz.
The win left Harris fifth in the new California Focus Pavement series point standings behind leader Sasselli going into this Saturday night's "Fred Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic" at the Stockton 99 Speedway.
A 20-lap main event caps the Focus portion of the Stockton event, which features the USAC Western Midget Cars in a 100-lap race on the 1/4-mile paved oval.
