2005 New England Focus Midget Series Gaining Momentum; 3 Exhibitions Slated This Month

The recently-announced 2005 New England Ford Focus Midget Car Series is gaining momentum with the announcement of at least three 2004 exhibition races and numerous tracks contemplating events for the new year.

"The response from competitors and race organizers has been phenomenal," says New England Series Coordinator Steve Wall. "The exhibitions we have planned will obviously help drive the series forward and we are anxious to finalize our 2005 schedule so that race fans can make plans to enjoy this exciting form of motorsports in the Northeast.

Preliminary discussions have taken place with tracks in Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey and exhibitions are already planned at Oswego Speedway (Sept. 4-5) and Adirondak Speedway (Sept. 18) in New York and Seekonk Speedway (Sept. 11) in Mass.

Dave Farrell of Black River, N.Y. has been named race director and technical director for the new series and brings extensive experience in both fields to his new position.

"We are delighted to have both Steve and Dave in our corner," says USAC National Ford Focus Midget Director Eric Bunn. "This New England series is part of our 2005 expansion program which also involves Florida, Oklahoma and the Northwest as Ford Focus racing continues to be the fastest-growing form of motorsports in the country."

Additional information regarding this new series can be obtained by contacting Steve Wall at (508) 826-4299.
