MICHIGAN'S BERLIN RACEWAY UP NEXT FOR MIDWEST FOCUS MIDGETS; MOCKLER WINS ABBREVIATED LAKEVILLE RUN

INDIANAPOLIS -- Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich. will offer USAC Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series participants their first pavement go-round in nearly a month, when the .438-mile track hosts the series Saturday for the first time in series history.

Tate Martz of Rushville, Ind. will lead the series to the track with a 98-point advantage over Stephanie Mockler of Westfield, Ind. Mockler cut into Martz's lead by three markers as she scored Saturday's abbreviated feature, which was deemed complete after 11 of the scheduled 20 laps were run before rain halted the race.

Mockler, in the No. 16 Regal Printing Spike/Ford Focus, led the final three laps after a spin by Tony Main cost him the chance at his first series victory. Instead, Mockler picked up her first series triumph, leading Martz, Kyle Robbins, Kevin Studley and Jordan Noblitt before weather intervened.

Mockler and Martz won eight-lap heat races prior to the feature.

Berlin Raceway has hosted USAC races in the past, but none since August 2002, when Bobby East claimed a National Midget Car Series win at the track. <pre> MIDWEST FORD FOCUS MIDGET CAR SERIES STANDINGS 1.
