Galedrige Captures Belleville'S Focus Nationals Crown Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia, Indiana & California Races This Week
Bradley Galedrige of Los Altos, Calif. scored a hard-fought victory in Thursday night's 100-lap National Ford Focus Midget feature at the Belleville (Kans.) High Banks and he continues to lead the California North standings going into this Saturday night's race at Madera (Calif.) Speedway.
Galedrige caught Joshua Clemons on the 87th lap around the 1/4-mile Belleville oval and led the rest of the way in his Wirtgen Group/Galedrige Construction Stealth. Clemons finished second ahead of Stephanie Mockler, Brad Loyet and Jordan Noblitt. The event drew a field of 38 cars from across America.
Jay Drake led the first 49 laps of the race but slipped to second behind Robbie Ray on lap 50 prior to the half-way stop. On the (top-six-inverted) restart, Clemons took over and held on until Galedrige's winning move.
Chris Rahe, the California South series point leader, was running among the leaders prior to a flip on lap 80. He escaped serious injury and holds a 42-point lead over Chase Barber in the new South standings.
Tate Martz finished seventh at Belleville and has a 23-point lead over Rex Norris III in the new Midwest Focus standings going into this Friday night's race at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Midwest Focuses also race Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc. A 30-lap feature caps the Cedar Rapids program and a 25-lapper is on tap at Sun Prairie.
Chase Scott did not compete at Belleville but continues to lead the Carolina/Virginia Focus standings by 75 over Michael Ward going into this Saturday night's race at the South Boston (Va.) Speedway.
The Focus cars will also be competing Wednesday night at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome, resuming their Speedrome series with a 50-lap main event on the 1/5-mile paved oval. Brice Kenyon is the Speedrome point leader.
