Matt Maners of Clayton, Ind. and Jamie Williams of Columbus, Ind. became first-time USAC feature winners last Wednesday night at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome but Brent Beauchamp of Fairland, Ind. had been there before! Actually Beauchamp had been there three times before!
All three hope to repeat as winners when Traderindiana.com and Wheels and Deals present "Open Wheel Wednesday" at the 1/5-mile Indianapolis, Ind. oval this Wednesday night. A trio of 50-lap features are again on tap for Regional Midget, Ford Focus Midget and Kenyon Midget cars.
Maners led all 50 laps in his Stealth VW to win the Regional Midget main event, beating Adam Nuetzel, Billy Wease, Joe Liguori and Sondi Eden to the checkered flag. Eden takes a 10-point series lead over Travis Young into this Wednesday's program after Young finished seventh in the 50-lapper.
Beauchamp led the final 37 laps of the Kenyon Midget feature in his Concrete Connection/Mascari Cleaners to beat Nick Bohanon, Jacob Wilson, Brice Kenyon and Dakoda Armstrong. The win left Beauchamp with a 39-point cushion over Armstrong in the new series standings. Alex Gamber led the first 11 laps of the race and Wilson led the next two before yielding to Beauchamp.
Williams passed Jodi Meyers on lap 42 and led the final nine laps of the Ford Focus Midget Car race to beat Jimmy Light, Meyers, Brice Kenyon and Joshua Clemons. Brent Berry led the first 27 laps and Meyers, trying to become USAC's eighth female feature winner, led 14 laps before Williams made his winning move. Kenyon continues to lead the series standings by 27 over Andy Baber, who was sixth in Wednesday's race.
