"WEDNESDAY NIGHT THUNDER" CONTINUES AT MOUNT LAWN; IRWIN, FITZPATRICK, HAMILTON (2), ROBERTSON, GEHRKE AND PARISH WIN
USAC's popular "Wednesday Night Thunder" racing series, presented by the Richard Petty Driving Experience, continues this Wednesday night at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle. Ind. Thirty-lap feature events are on tap for the Regional, Kenyon and Indiana Ford Focus Midgets.
Travis Young of Franklin, Ind. (Midgets), Chett Gehrke of Broken Arrow, Okla. (Ford Focus) and Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. (Kenyon) are the respective point leaders in the three series going in to Wednesday's action on the 3/10-mile paved oval.
Robby Parish of Knightstown, Ind. won last Wednesday's 30-lap Midget feature in his Robertson Drywall/Executive Homes Beast/Pink Chevy, beating Alex Pruett, Young, Joe Liguori and Chase Barber. James Robertson of Indianapolis, Ind. led the final 27 laps of Saturday's Regional Midget race at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway in his Robertson Drywall/Executive Homes Beast/Pink Ford, beating Young, Jeremy Warren, Ricky Ehrgott and Parish.
Tyler Irwin of Polson, Mont. led all 30 laps of Wednesday's New Castle Focus feature in his Irwin Racing Beast, beating Gehrke, Craig Haack, Eric Fehrman and J.T. Hiltibran. On Saturday, Gehrke led all 30 laps in his Indy Performance Composites/Scooter Ellis Rentals Beast to beat Parish, Jordan Pennington, Mario Clouser and Bill Griffith at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.
Last week's Kenyon Midget action included Blake Fitzpatrick's win at New Castle on Wednesday and Kyle Hamilton's pair of wins at the Anderson Speedway Friday and Saturday. On Wednesday, Fitzpatrick led all 30 laps in his Fitzpatrick Funeral Home/Forsythe Racing Yamaha to beat Hamilton, Dakoda Armstrong, Ryan Miller and Jacob Thompson. Hamilton passed Miller on lap 17 and led the rest of Friday's 30-lapper at Anderson in his Curtis Motor Sales/WKLU Radio Yamaha to beat Jeff Wimmenauer, Tyler Cottongim, Miller and Megan Wood. On Saturday at Anderson, Hamilton passed Fitzpatrick on lap 13 and led the rest of the way in the 30-lapper to beat Fitzpatrick, Thompson, Caleb Armstrong and Drew Charlson. Thompson led the opening lap and Fitzpatrick led the next 11 before Hamilton went to the front.
