Robbie Ray of Davenport, Iowa extended his lead in the Indiana Ford Focus Midget Car Series Saturday night, leading all 20 laps of the race at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway in his Ray Racing Beast. He now leads runner-up Trenton Darland by 35 points going into this Friday night's racing program at the South Bend (Ind.) Motor Speedway.

Ray was followed to the checkered flag by Trenton Darland, Brice Kenyon, Ryan Litt and Brandon Hartsell, although a last-lap tangle sent Tony Ave to a local hospital for a checkup. Ave, who won the inaugural USAC Indiana Ford Focus Midget Car feature at Anderson in April, was later released.

Ray becomes the sixth different race winner in six races in the brand-new USAC series. Others have been Ave, Bobby East, Matt Westfall, Jerry Coons, Jr. and Ryan Hamilton, and Darland won an exhibition event in May at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Friday night's race will be only the second for USAC at South Bend since 1971. Russ Gamester won a 40-lap USAC National Midget Series Car race at the 1/4-mile paved oval on April 17, 1988. <pre> USAC INDIANA FORD FOCUS MIDGET SERIES STANDINGS 1. Robbie Ray 302 2.
