SCOTT, RIETHMEYER HOPE FOR IMPROVEMENT AT SHENANDOAH; CLARKE WINS EAST CAROLINA

INDIANAPOLIS -- Point leader Chase Scott and second-place Bradley Riethmeyer didn't have the best races of their careers Saturday at East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville, N.C.

Neither driver finished in the Top 10, but both look to bounce back this Saturday at Shenandoah Speedway in Virginia. They are the only two drivers to win on the 4/10-mile track. Scott's point lead grew marginally and now stands at 72.

Scott and Riethmeyer's misfortunes Saturday opened the door for a new winner. Adam Clarke became Saturday the first Aussie driver in USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series history to win a feature event, as he took the checkered flag to become the fourth victor in Carolina/Virginia Focus competition in 2006.

Hailing from New Castle, Australia, Clarke drove a Tracy Trotter team car and led the final 15 laps of the 35-lapper after taking the point from Aron Oakley.

Oakley was second, ahead of Mark Burt, early feature leader Ryan Osborne and Ryan Smith. Burt's third-place finish allowed him to move within 14 points of Riethmeyer for second in points.
