Aaron Fike and Josh Wise posted fast qualifying efforts in USAC National and Western races last week, enhancing their positions in the new Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier standings.
Fike paced the field in qualifying for Wednesday night's USAC National Midget Car race at Granite City, Ill., while Wise was the fastest Saturday night qualifier for the Western Midget Car race at the Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway.
Wise is now only one point behind J.J. Yeley in the Western Midget qualifying standings.
Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier Championship points will be distributed at three USAC events this weekend, at Friday night's Clabber Girl "Hut Hundred" National Midget Car race at Terre Haute, Ind., at Saturday night's Terre Haute First national Bank "Sumar Classic" Weld Racing Silver Crown race at Terre Haute and at Saturday night's Western Sprint Car race at Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park.
This year, each USAC National and Western Series qualifying champion will receive a $5,000 bonus from Earl's in recognition of their accomplishment. Points are earned at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9. 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1.
