MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Cameron Dodson and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team are looking to build on their success this season and improve on their last two finishes Thursday at the "USAC Silver Crown Showdown" at Darlington Raceway. Dodson and the team are coming off of two straight third place finishes in Cameron Dodson's first two USAC Silver Crown Series starts.
"We have definitely started the season out great," said Dodson. "Our goal at Darlington is to win. We have already brought the No. 199 Ford powered Hoosier Tires/ Red Line Oil, C&R Chassis to the podium so next is winning."
Cameron Dodson finished third at Homestead-Miami Speedway in March and third at Iowa Speedway last weekend. The team won the season opener with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. behind the wheel at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona. The No. 199 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing entry sits in first place in the USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N owners points by 63 points. Cameron Dodson comes into Darlington seventh in the drivers points despite not racing at Manzanita.
This weekend will mark the first time that the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team has ever competed at Darlington. Driver Cameron Dodson says he is ready to race on the 1.366-mile oval.
"I am looking forward to Darlington," said Dodson. "I love racing on the big tracks."
This weekend Cameron Dodson, who made several starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2006, will make his first Silver Crown start in front of a NASCAR crowd.
"This weekend will probably nerve wracking because all of the Cup guys are there. If you make a mistake then it is twice as bad but if we have a good race and end up on the podium again, we will look twice as good. That is our goal."
