"FIRECRACKER 30" AT PERRIS NEXT UP FOR USAC/CRA SPRINTS; POINT LEADER CARDEY TAKES PETALUMA SPRINT DEBUT

David Cardey of Riverside, Calif. finds himself 31 points ahead of Blake Miller and 33 ahead of Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car defending champ Mike Spencer as the series prepares for the July 4 "Firecracker 30" & Sky Concert at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

Cardey took home the trophy Saturday night at Petaluma (Calif.) Speedway, winning the 30-lap feature event in his ITI Performance/Empire Plumbing Viper/Downing Chevy. Spencer led the first 16 laps but Cardey led the final 14 for the win. Miller finished second ahead of Spencer, lady driver Alissa Geving and Matt Streeter. Geving posted the second fastest time behind Cardey in the field of 28 cars and she also won her heat race.

Cardey became the first driver to repeat as a feature winner this year. He previously won at Santa Maria, Calif. Saturday's race at Petaluma was the first for the series at the 3/8-mile dirt Petaluma oval.
