Bobby East, driver of the Klatt Enterprises No. 4 Ford Racing Technology/Club Sport/Beast Chassis Esslinger, returns to O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis this Thursday for the USAC Silver Crown Series and National Midget Series doubleheader. East is the defending champion of the annual Silver Crown Race at ORP.
LAST SEASON YOU WON THE SILVER CROWN RACE IN INDIANAPOLIS. HOW DO YOU FEEL GOING BACK THIS WEEKEND? "Well, it feels pretty good. Our Silver Crown car always runs pretty good there. We were able to start on the front row last year, hopefully we can run somewhere close again and save our tires for the end; of course, it's a double-header again. Earlier this year I finished third there. We went back, tested and changed a few things, so hopefully we can go there and do better this Thursday."
YOU'RE ON A BIT OF HOT STREAK, WINNING THE LAST TWO RACES YOU'VE BEEN IN. HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR SEASON? "Well, we started out pretty good. We kind of hit a rough patch in the middle of the summer there. We just kept working and we still are working. Everything is going pretty well now. The car is doing real good. We've changed a few things, got our rotors back running how they used to run, which is really good. I look forward to the rest of the year."
NASCAR WILL ALSO BE AT THE BRICKYARD THIS WEEKEND. DOES THAT ADD TO THE EXCITEMENT?"I mean it's pretty fun with everything running this weekend with everybody in town. I'll be able to see some guys I've worked with in the past and the different people I've built relationships with. It's just a cool weekend, with all the people from the different races going on, it makes it pretty exciting."
WITH ALL THE RACING HISTORY IN INDIANAPOLIS, DOES IT MAKE IT SPECIAL RACING THERE? "I race here every weekend, but I'm reminded every May during the Indy 500 weekend. Seeing the drivers come in is always pretty cool."
