Hines extends lead with Tri-State victory. Sprint Car Series heads for Wednesday date at Anderson.

Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. extended his lead in the Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series Sunday night, leading wire-to-wire to win the 30-lap feature at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. The win left him with a comfortable 79-point lead over runner-up Derek Davidson in the new standings going into this Wednesday night's 50-lapper at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.

Hines' win in the Kroger-Folgers-Pringles-Sunny Delight Gaerte/Beast was a record 53rd for the Dynamics, Inc. team of Milford, Ohio as he beat Tony Elliott, Bill Rose, Levi Jones and Davidson to the checkered flag on the 1/4-mile dirt track.

The Haubstadt event included 10 flips but there were no serious driver injuries. Eric Shively was the Turbines, Inc. fastest qualifier and Danny Holtsclaw won a "qualifying race," while heats went to Shively, Davidson, Elliott and Kevin Briscoe. Jay Drake won the semi.

Wednesday night's races at Anderson get under way with practice at 3:30 pm, following a four-hour practice session for Saturday night's PayLess/Delco Remy "Little 500." Qualifying starts at 5:45 and the first race begins at 7. The feature is 50 laps.
