Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. emerged the victor of Sunday's third "Glen Niebel Classic" Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car race after escaping a final-turn, final-lap tangle. The win at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway gave his team, the Hoffman Auto Racing Team of Milford, Ohio, a record-tying 51st career victory, tying Steve Stapp.

Hines was battling leader Jason McCord and Eric Gordon when the latter two tangled and spun out, leaving Hines to lead the final lap after McCord had led the first 49. Hines drove the Kroger/Folgers/Pringles/Sunny Delight Gaerte/Beast.

The Fike brothers, A.J. and Aaron of Galesburg, Ill., finished second and third and were followed at the checkered flag by fast qualifier Dave Steele and 2001 race winner Derek Davidson.

Hines' victory left him as the series point leader going into the Firestone Indy 225 events at the Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway April 19-21. The Stoops Freightliner Sprint Cars join the USAC National Midgets, USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown cars and the Indy Racing League for the Nazareth weekend.

Mike Ling, Dave Durnwald, Bud Kaeding and Ed Carpenter won heat races at Anderson, with Gordon taking the semi.
