TOP 1999 USAC NATIONAL DRIVER WILL EARN 2000 "SUPER LICENSE"

USAC's most prolific "National" driver in 1999 will receive a bonus in 2000 as a result of a new program in place for the current racing season. A "Super License," good for competition in the year 2000, will be presented at season's end to the licensed driver who amasses the most total feature-race points in the three following 1999 racing series: Coors Light Silver Bullet; Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car; and MCI WorldCom National Midget Car. Only feature-race points will count and the driver must be licensed in each series and start at least four (4) feature events in each series to be eligible. The "Super License" will be one-of-a-kind and will entitle the driver who earns it to compete in each of the aforementioned racing series. For comparison, eight drivers would have fit the criteria in 1998, namely Dave Darland, Jay Drake, Tony Elliott, John Heydenreich, Tracy Hines, Dave Steele, Kevin Thomas and Brian Tyler. Of those eight, Hines started the most total races, 50, but Elliott won the most, seven.
