Kendall Fastest of the Rain Dancers in Third Round Practice
TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Quebec (July 31, 2004) -- Tommy Kendall set the fastest time during third-round practice Saturday at Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. Kendall, driving the No. 11 Jaguar R Performance XKR in rainy and wet conditions, set a time of one minute, 16.039 seconds (72.010 miles per hour). The morning practice was originally scheduled as a qualifying session. Qualifying was postponed to this afternoon due to rain.
Paul Gentilozzi was second fastest in the No. 3 Jaguar R Performance XKR, ahead of Tomy Drissi (No. 5 TAXI - The Movie Jaguar XKR). Canadian Charlie Webster (No. 95 CJ Webster of Canada Chevrolet Corvette) and Joey Scarallo (No. 06 Toyo Tires/ROH Wheels Chevrolet Corvette) completed the top five.
Qualifying for tomorrows race is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today.
The 35th Anniversary Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 30-Aug. 1. The Trans-Am race is scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. The Trans-Am Series is the featured event of a full weekend of racing, which also includes the Formula Renault 2000 North American Championship, Historic Formula Atlantic, Formula 1600, Championship Auto Quebec, Honda/Michelin Challenge, Coupe Toyota Echo Pirelli Cup and FASCAR.
The Motorock Trans-Am Series features closed-fendered, production-based, V-8-powered sports cars, competing on permanent road courses, and temporary street and airport circuits throughout North America.
