NOTE 1 -- TROIS-RIVIERES STATS...Miller has five previous starts here...In 2002, he qualified sixth, was running second near the end of the race when his engine expired and finished 12th...Best finish -- third in 1999 after qualifying fourth and leading Lap 37.

NOTE 2 -- BACKGROUND STATS...Ranks second in the points standings...In 2003, has one win (Lime Rock) and three additional top-three finishes...Made his NASCAR Winston Cup debut at Infineon Raceway in June, finishing 24th on the lead lap...In 2002, finished fourth in the points standings with three top-three, three top-five and four top-ten finishes...In 2000, scored his first career Trans-Am win at San Diego...Voted "Most Improved Driver" for 1998...Won the "Rookie of the Year" title in 1996.

On his qualifying effort... "This is a big improvement over the first session and we still have a really loose car even on stickers (tires). I was able to manage a couple of laps by moving sway bars during the lap and got a good lap. I went back out and tried to get better, but I'd already taken the good out of the tires. I certainly didn't want to take a chance and wreck it. So, OK, second is just fine. We're not far off the pole time. But we just couldn't catch Scott (Pruett), so we'll have to race him tomorrow.

"The confidence deal I have is the car's not perfect yet, and we're pretty quick. We'll get our car a little quicker, go better, and win the race. We'll save the tires, save the brakes,
