Revolution Motorsports Trois Rivieres Wrap-Up
Hayner out with part failure - Sak finishes 7th
Detroit -- Aug 3, 2003 -- The 2003 Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Cup event at the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres did not deliver the outcome Revolution Motorsports had anticipated. Bobby Sak nursed a worn-out #10 car home to 7th place. Stu Hayner ran with the leaders through lap 31 only to suffer a broken suspension link on the #2 GMAC Commercial Finance Corvette.
While disappointed, Don Sak commented on son Bobby's finish. "We had good set-ups for the race. Unfortunately, the pace was more than Bobby could sustain and his tires and brakes ultimately went away. He ran well, though and the 7th place spot keeps Jorge Diaz in sight in the Rookie Championship points. Times running out though."
"Stu looked like he had a real good car in the #2 GMAC Commercial Finance Corvette," Sak continued. "He's such a steady, smooth driver, I was feeling very optimistic about him having a shot at putting us on the podium. We're not sure why the suspension link let go-- but it is one of those parts you just can't make tough enough. It's a shame-- Stu had a good run going. We had a lot of guests from GMAC's local office--. we'd have liked to have had a better showing for them."
"We knew Pruett and Miller in the Rocketsports Jags would check out. We saw it early in practice and qualifying," noted Sak. "After qualifying, we just find our satisfaction at being best in class," he laughed. "We continue to be the fastest and highest qualifying Corvettes at every Trans-Am event."
Sak and Hayner started fifth and sixth respectively in Saturday's Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres. Sak had hoped his position would provide him with an opportunity to gain points in this year's Rookie of the Year race.
The #2 Corvette carried the GMAC Commercial Finance colors for the Trois Rivieres event and will also run them again for Road America later in the month.
