Motor City 100 Presented By Johnson Controls Shines In CBS Overnight Ratings Finishes Third On Weekend Amongst Racing Programming

Miami - The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup today announced that its overnight ratings for the Motor City 100 presented by Johnson Controls was a 1.0 rating and a 2 share. For the weekend, Trans-Am finished third in the overnights and trailed only the NASCAR Winston Cup and the NASCAR Busch Series.

"We are ecstatic with the results of our first ever network appearance for the Trans-Am Series," said Trans-Am's Dennis Huth. "This is reflective of the product that Trans-Am has stood for for so many years - Good solid entertainment for race fans throughout the country."

The Motor City 100 presented by Johnson Controls, which was aired on a one-day taped delay basis on June 17, was the Trans-Am Series' first major network television appearance. It outdrew both the IRL (0.8 rating/2 share) and CART (0.7 rating/2 share) races which were carried live by ABC. Round five of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup, the Trans-Am Series 100 presented by Simple Green, will start at 4:45 on June 30. The race, part of the Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland presented by Firestar, will be broadcast by CBS on July 1 at 5:00 (EDT).
