Paul Fix Disappointed With 17th At GENERAC 500
August 21, 2005 -- Elkhart Lake, WI - Paul Fix driving in the #77 Stopflex/ Pennzoil/ Drive! Magazine Mustang has been plagued with transmission problems all weekend. A mechanical gremlin caught Paul on lap 20, with another transmission failure, caused Paul to drop from 8th place to 17th.
Fix who started12th overall and 3rd in the GT1 class, made his way through the field, passing competitors throughout the event. Rounding turn 13th after passing Joey Scarallo, he found no gears to shift into. The result is a broken input shaft in the transmission.
The Fix Motorsports Mustang has achieved four straight GT1 class poles and three victories in four events in the Trans-Am Series. This puts Paul 10th overall in the Trans-Am series points race.
"This was a really frustrating weekend. I had passed John Baucom and Joey Scarallo and was closing in on Cliff Ebben when the transmission broke again. We will look in to resolving the transmission issues this week, and will look forward to competing at Montreal", stated Paul.
The Rumble at the Road will air Sunday, Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
