RJ LOPEZ LOOKS FOR SOPHOMORE SUCCESS AS 2010 SCCA TRANS-AM SEASON KICKS OFF
Miami, Florida- RJ Lopez will enter the 2010 SCCA Trans-Am series with a sense of accomplishment and optimism for 2010. Lopez, who will run a limited engagement of events of the ten race championship, heads into his sophomore season with sights set on the top rung of the podium. The number 06 Lopesport Racing/Mobil One/Goodyear Tires/Optica Lopez/I104.5 La Radio Joven/ECR Engines/Meissen Engineering C6 Corvette is ready to rumble as the season kicks off at New Jersey Motorsports Complex this weekend.
Said Lopez, "We are very excited for New Jersey. We're going into this season with one goal - to win. We feel that we learned a lot last year and are better prepared to win than ever before."
"We feel we will have a good shot at New Jersey since it is pretty much a new track for everybody," offered Lopez. "Unlike last year where most people had been to most of the tracks and we were rookies everywhere but Road America."
Mark Meissen will once again oversee the preparation and development of the number 06 Corvette. "We ran the SCCA National at Blackhawk Farms last week as a test and tune. The car had some minor issues which we sorted out. We tore the car down afterwards and prepared it for Trans-Am competition," commented Meissen.
Along with Mark Meissen the team will have Scott McLearen for select races to fine tune the engineering and shock setup. "We plan to improve on a few more things within the team as the season progresses, in terms of shock development and some more suspension work as well," said McLearen.
Lopesport Racing will utilize the ECR Engines package again in 2010. Said Lopez of the potent Chevy power plant, "Our engine program is top notch. I am looking forward to getting the season rolling and I want to be around during the resurgence of the Trans-am series."
The racing excitement kicks off at the New Jersey Motorsports Complex Thunderbolt circuit on Saturday with SCCA Trans-Am series practice followed by qualifying and racing on Sunday with the green flag set to wave at approximately 3PM EST.
