(August 8, 2000) Leighton Reese (Minnetonka, MN) hosted a mid-season party for employees and students of Banner Engineering located in Minneapolis, MN. The party took place at Minnesota's only arrive and drive go karting facility...PRO KART INDOORS, located just outside of Minneapolis in Burnsville, MN.

Monday, August 7, was the date set for the "Banner Grand Prix" held at the indoor go kart track in Burnsville, MN, near the hometown of the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series driver of the #66 Banner Racing/Phillips 66 Pontiac, Leighton Reese. There were several warm-up laps for many of the drivers leading to a series of races to determine the over-all winners in the ladies and the mens heats.

The ladies race commenced first, with a short qualifying session followed by an exciting race of the Banner Engineering women! Leighton's wife, Katie Reese, started from the back of the pack due to the fact that she wasn't a Banner Employee. Katie managed to work her way back up to a respectable third place, with Banner Engineering's Mary Selke taking the victory with the checkered flag.

The men's race then followed, with a strong, solid run by Ty Fayfield, son of Banner Engineering President, Bob Fayfield. It was a close race as Leighton had started from the back of the qualifying grid. Ty Fayfield managed to hold off Leighton to take the checkered flag to victory. Mr. Fayfield was in attendance to see his son edge by the Trans-Am driver for the win!
