Team Revolution continues its march to the front!
Detroit June 23, 2002 This week the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup heads to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Mid-Ohio Grand Prix on June 29.The race will air at 4pm EST on CBS (same day tape delay).
Coming off a great weekend in Lime Rock Park, Stu Hayner will pilot the #02 Trenton Forging/Revolution Motorsports Corvette. In the #10 Revolution Motorsports Corvette will be Bobby Sak. Bobby's car will carry the team's participation in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by featuring a case with local interest.
Referring to a late race engine failure that snatched victory from the Revolution Motorsports team, Hayner declared, "we've got unfinished business. I'm still charged from Lime Rock-- it will take more than a part failure to keep the Trenton Forging #02 Corvette from taking its rightful place at the front.
"Mid-Ohio and Lime Rock are similar in many ways, so we hope we'll be close right off the transporter," Hayner said. "Hopefully, we can focus more on gearing and strategy and not have to worry about chasing the setup."
Hayner continued, "The next few weeks will be a good stretch. We're really starting to have fun. Lime Rock was a good boost for the guys on the team. We're excited. "
Bobby Sak's last outing in the Trans-Am car was an outstanding weekend at Mosport. He qualified sixth. He enjoys courses like Mid-Ohio.
"These closed circuit road courses are perfect opportunities for me to get experience," said Bobby. "This week will be especially beneficial since I'll move right into the next race in Cleveland too. Back-to-back events will allow me to really work on the rhythm of driving the #10 Corvette and more time working with the crew," he added.
"I'm really developing a good rapport with Stu Hayner [driver of the #02 Trenton Forging/Revolution Motorsports Corvette] and I expect that to continue with the two Ohio events," continued Bobby.
Crew Chief, Shane Duhaime, has the #10 car's repairs well in hand following Don Sak's loss of steering at Lime Rock. Duhane insists it [the #10 car] will equal the #02 car's Lime Rock performance numbers. At Lime Rock Park, Hayner's #02 Trenton Forging Corvette set the quick time in qualifying by 3/10s. Hayner also set the fastest lap in the race.
In association with Trenton Forging, Revolution Motorsports will campaign two 2002 Chevrolet Corvettes in this weekend's Mid-Ohio Grand Prix and the duration of the 2002 Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup.
