Don Sak ready to heat up Miami.
#10 Revolution Motorsports Corvette teamed up with Huffaker horses.
Miami - October 2, 2002 - Not to be outdone by his teammate, Stu Hayner, in the #02 Trenton Forging Corvette, Don Sak will be stirring up a little heat of his own in the #10 Revolution Motorsports Corvette when the Trans-Am Series for BF Goodrich Tires Cup takes to the street at the Miami Grand Prix of the Americas, October 4-6,
Sak, who led his first Trans-Am Series laps earlier this year at Road America, talked about the team's progress in 2002.
"We're running ahead of plans and I couldn't ask for more," said Sak from the team's paddock in Miami. "True to the spirit of this team, though, our crew and car chiefs keep pushing. So, with an eye on growing in 2003, we have put our engine program under review to do some testing with Huffaker Engineering."
"I think the Revolution cars will fair well on this track," Sak continued. "It's got a good mix of surface changes, short shoots, sweeping curves and some straight-aways that will really show off the power. You're going to see some guys really haul the mail on the straights. But, they're going to have to keep their heads as they come into the some of the more technical sections of the track."
Commenting on their shock package, Sak noted, "As fast as we were in Denver, and as important as the power was, getting it to the ground was the key. Our shock package in Denver really was the difference in bringing down our lap times. Considering this track [Miami] has a variety of five different surfaces, I think you'll see shocks come into play again. On a track like this, if you can't get the power down quickly and efficiently, you're going to be out there backing up."
Sak will drive the #10 Revolution Motorsports Corvette in Sunday's Trans-Am Series event. The ALMS Series and CART Champ cars will run in conjunction with the race Saturday and Sunday respectively. The race will air on SPEED Channel at 5:30pm, [1 hour same day tape delay]
