Revolution Motorsports leaves long beach with a confident eye on Mosport
Detroit - April 16, 2002 Revolution Motorsports qualified 7th [#02 car] and 13th [#10 car] for Sunday's Johnson Control 100. It was a great effort for the new team and demonstrated the team's commitment to being a competitive force in Trans-Am.
However, Sunday was not as successful as qualifying. Sak finished in the Johnson Controls 100 in 13th position, while Hayner dropped out of the race early with braking problems, finishing 18th.
"The challenges we faced this weekend are "opportunities" when you are a new two-car team," said Stu Hayner. "These things happen and you have to get them behind you. I hope that we have done that. We have a test session coming up that will give us the opportunity to review what issues we had here at Long Beach and we will get ourselves ready for Mosport. These are good racecars and I have no doubt we can win with them. It just takes time."
Don Sak echoed Hayner's belief. "This is part of racing. We know what we took on. We are committed to getting it right... and we will. We will make the necessary changes and we will show up at Mosport ready to compete. We may be a new team, but we have all been around long enough to know the difficulty of the challenge we have accepted. We've come to race."
The Johnson Controls 100 Trans-Am Series Race will air on Saturday, April 20, beginning at 5 p.m. ET on Speed channel (formerly Speedvision).
The next event is The Victoria Day Trans-Am Weekend, Sunday - May 19, 2002 at Mosport International Raceway.
Revolution Motorsports competes as part of the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. All events are nationally televised on CBS and Speed channel (formerly Speedvision). The Trans-Am Series is the oldest form of American sports car racing. You can find out more at www.trans-amseries.com.
