LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 16, 2004) -- Joey Scarallo got behind the wheel of the No. 6 Chevrolet Corvette, sponsored by ROH Wheels, Group A/Autotrend and Toyo Tires, for the first time since last year's Grand Prix of Puerto Rico. The first Motorock Trans-Am Series practice session of the 2004 Grand Prix of Long Beach was held today at 12:30 p.m. PDT.

"The car actually did well," said Scarallo, who due to a transponder failure was unable to record a time. "The track was green, so our grip was not as what we would have liked, but we should have more grip in the second practice this afternoon. Except for maybe a few sway bar adjustments, we will not change anything for the second practice.

"We will let the track come to us," added Scarallo.

"It's like riding a bike, it all came back to me and the rust came off," said Scarallo of getting back behind the wheel.

The oldest of four siblings, Scarallo, 25, lives in Smithtown, N.Y. Scarallo manages Autotrend Tire and Wheel Company Inc., his family's wheel importing business in Lindenhurst, N.Y.

Second round Trans-Am practice is scheduled for 4:15 PDT.
