EDMONTON, May 13, 2005 - Calgary driver Hima Maher leaves Sunday to test in a Trans-Am Series Corvette at the Mid-America Motorplex in Iowa for Derhaag Motorsports. If the testing goes well, Maher has set his sights on competing in the Trans-Am race on July 16 as part of the Edmonton Grand Prix. Trans-Am is North America's premier sports car championship series, celebrating its fortieth continuous year of competition in 2005.

In 2004, Maher finished first at the Sports Car Club of BC Invitational, as part of the Vancouver Molson Indy. He also competed in Porsche Club of America events at Laguna Seca and Portland. Maher is the 2004 Canadian GT Championship champion and has won numerous WCMA championships held at Race City, Calgary. This is Maher's first time testing in a Trans-Am Series car.

Derhaag Motorsports is owned by Jim Derhaag, and is based out of Shakopee, Minnesota. The Derhaag Motorsports facility includes a full fabrication and chassis shop that produces the 2005 Corvette used in the Trans-Am series. Derhaag Motorsports had the winning car at the 2005 Trans-Am Series season opener, the Cytomax Challenge/Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 10th.

Maher Racing Inc is supported by Centennial Motorsports Group of Calgary, AB.
