Stu Hayner ready to roll in the Rockies.
The fastest car in Road America, looking to dominate Denver.
Detroit - August 27, 2002 - Stu Hayner plans on picking up right where he left off at Road America as the team and the Trans-Am for the BF Goodrich Cup Series moves into Denver for the Shell Grand Prix of Denver, August 29 - September 1.
"The #02 Trenton Forging Corvette was the fastest car on the track at Road America," said Stu from his home in Yorba Linda, California. "I have all the confidence in the world going to Denver. It's a new course and I believe that puts us at a slight advantage. This team has demonstrated its ability to adapt quickly to whatever a track throws at us. We'll do well here."
Hayner comes to Denver currently sixth in Championship point's race.
"We're right in the thick of it regarding points," Stu continued. "The Trenton Forging Corvette is a front runner. Boris certainly has a pretty tight grip on the lead... but second place on back... I think anything is possible. We have the team and the car to go to the front and we have four more races to do it. Denver is just the beginning."
"What I've seen of the track I like," Hayner remarked. "Everyone is going to have to deal with the surface, the temperatures and the thin air. Nothing you can do about that. But it appears to have some good passing zones and some corner combinations that will reward the smart drivers. If it is anything like Long Beach or Washington DC, you can't afford to be sloppy. Smooth will be the name of the game. Plus...." he laughed, "I don't think guys are going to be as quick to bang you around on this course. Those walls have a way keeping things in check."
