Boris Said wins Trans-Am Series on the Tarmac Presented by Microchip Technology

* Boris Said Claims Third Victory of Year at Cleveland - Boris Said, in his Applied Computer Solutions Panoz Esperante, won today's Trans-Am Series on the Tarmac Presented by Microchip Technology at the Burke Lakefront Airport, the fifth race of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup. Said captured his third race of the season and fifth consecutive podium finish. The pole-sitter, Butch Leitzinger led the first 11 laps until a yellow caution was waved after which most of the leaders pitted for fuel. Tony Ave took the lead and led the next 19 laps until he was passed by Said. Said was able to hold off a hard charging Leitzinger to capture the victory. Stuart Hayner took the final podium spot finishing third. Rounding out the top five were Paul Gentilozzi and Justin Bell.

* Boris Said Widens Lead for the Battle for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup - With Boris Said's third victory of the season, he increased his lead in the chase for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup, the season-ending award presented to the Trans-Am Series Driver's Champion. Said leads the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup point standings with 152 points. Paul Gentilozzi currently stands in second with 125 points and Butch Leitzinger and Johnny Miller are tied for third with 117 points. Tony Ave currently holds fifth place with 90 points.

* BFGoodrich* Tires "Take Control" Award - Tony Ave won the BFGoodrich* Tires "Take Control" Award for leading the most laps in today's race...Ave led 19 of the 48 laps. For his efforts, he received a free set of BFGoodrich* g-ForceTM T/A* radials.

* BFGoodrich* Tires Fast Late in Race - Four of the top six finishers in today's race, all using BFGoodrich* g-ForceTM T/A* radial tires, recorded their fastest race lap in the final half of the race. "The BFGoodrich* Tires were great today and I am fortunate that I have had a long relationship racing with them," said Boris Said.

* Fast Qualifying - During Friday's qualifying session for the Trans-Am Series on the Tarmac Presented by Microchip Technology, pole-sitter Butch Leitzinger led a group of three Trans-Am drivers who qualified faster than last year's pole position time. Leitzinger's time of 1:13.268 (103.478 mph) was over a tenth of a second faster than Paul Gentilozzi's pole time last year of 1:13.397 (103.292 mph).

* Trans-Am Televised - CBS Sports televised the Trans-Am Series on the Tarmac Presented by Microchip Technology from the Burke Lakefront Airport live today, July 13, at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

* Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup, Round Six - The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup heads directly to Washington, D.C. to compete next weekend, July 20 at the Cadillac Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. A support race for the American Le Mans Series, the Trans-Am race will be the third and final race televised by CBS Sports.
