Brian Simo of Carlsbad, Calif., moved up nine positions to finish seventh in the Trans-Am Series season opener at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway. The defending series champion started 16th in the No. 88 Tommy Bahama Qvale Mangusta, but moved to 11th on the first lap of the 3.7-mile road course. He then worked up through the field to finish seventh.

"Obviously, I would have liked to repeat last year's win here, but it just wasn't in the cards," Simo said. "But you don't win a championship in the first race. There are still nine races to go, and I guarantee we'll be in there digging for every point."
