Brian Simo of Carlsbad, Calif., had a tough afternoon Sunday in the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series race at Laguna Seca Raceway. Simo started second in the 34-car field and took the lead on lap 12 of 34 laps. Shortly after, he had contact with the No. 1 car of Paul Gentilozzi, which resulted in a flat tire and extensive body damage to the car. He returned to the race after a lengthy pit stop and finished 29th.

"I don't know what to say," he said. "We were racing along and it looked like I got hit by the number 1 car. We cut down a tire and it tore up the car pretty good. I hope the officials see it the same way I saw it. It was a pretty good hit, so I don't know if you can call that a racing thing."
