Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing will be fighting to claim the lead in the TCR International teams’ championship in Buriram, Thailand, this weekend. After the two month summer break, TCR reconvenes in Thailand to begin the final three rounds of the 2017 season. Currently second in the teams’ championship and with only 33 points to close to first place, the three Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing drivers are focused on a weekend of top results to put them in the lead before heading to Zhejiang for the penultimate round. Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing’s three SEAT Leons will be wearing special individual liveries to represent the Singha Corporation this weekend, with Pepe Oriola in the #74 supporting Singha Light, while Daniel Lloyd will promote U Beer in his #17 SEAT, followed by James Nash who will wear Leo Beer for the second year in a row in Thailand on his #54.

Daniel Lloyd scored his first podium of the season in Oschersleben with 2nd place in race one and will return to the Buriram circuit for the first time since helping Craft-Bamboo to win the 2015 GT Asia drivers’ championship title. Coming off a successful weekend in Germany, Lloyd is excited to tackle the Thai circuit once again and is confident he can make a competitive showing in his fourth round of the TCR season. The #17 driver will have to battle 20kg of success ballast but will be pushing hard to take his first win of the season in Thailand.

James Nash is excited to get the final stage of the season underway in Thailand, and after taking a win and 2nd place podium in Buriram in 2016, he hopes to repeat that magic this weekend. With no ballast to contend with, Nash is looking like a top contender thanks to his race winning experience at the 4.5km circuit. After a big accident at the start of race two in Oschersleben, Nash is determined to bounce back and begin to close out the 2017 season with some more podium results.

Pepe Oriola is fifth in the drivers’ championship standings and begins his push to climb up the ladder in Thailand this weekend. With a 43 point gap to close, Oriola knows he has a challenge ahead of him but is optimistic about his chances after two years of victories and podiums at the Buriram circuit. With the team’s expert knowledge of the Thai course, combined with his on track experience, Oriola expects to put his #74 SEAT Leon at the front of the grid on Sunday and challenge the series’ leaders for the top step of the podium.

Quotes

Richard Coleman, CEO of Craft-Bamboo Racing: “It has been a long summer break and we are ready to start the final three rounds of the season and our focus will be on fighting for the teams’ championship. We have an excellent record of success in Buriram, taking a variety of wins and podiums over the past two seasons and I expect all three drivers to have a good chance of taking more top results this weekend.”

Daniel Lloyd, #17: “I am really looking forward to racing in Buriram, I had a really good result last time out and I am looking to continue that strong performance with a bit of momentum. I know the circuit well, having helped Craft-Bamboo take the GT Asia Series drivers’ championship in 2015. It has been a really long break, which has been tough, given that I had a great performance in Oscherlseben. We might be in for some tricky conditions with the weather but I can’t wait.”

James Nash, #54: “The win and double podium at Buriram last year after I’d virtually written off the car in pre-race testing has to rank as one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Buriram is a circuit that suits me but you have to be careful not to go too far wide because it is dirty off-line.”

Pepe Oriola, #74: “I am really confident for Buriram as I won there last year but it looks like it is going to be raining. We will need to find a good setup and try to get the most points possible for the championship. All three of us will be working together to try and take the teams’ championship lead.”
