Toyota World Rally Championship boss Jari-Matti Latvala will contest next month's Fuji 24 Hours as part of the crew tasked with driving the Japanese marque's hydrogen-powered Corolla.

Nissan has announced it will race a version of its new Z in the Fuji 24 Hours, as it seeks to gather data for the car to be used in other categories.

Toyota's hydrogen-powered Corolla Sport will continue to race in Super Taikyu in 2022, while Subaru and Mazda will all field new biofuel-powered entries in the series.

Toyota says the hydrogen engine in its experimental Corolla Sport has achieved power parity with the traditional internal combustion unit it replaces after the car’s third race appearance on Sunday.

Toyota’s hydrogen-powered Corolla Sport completed its second Super Taikyu race on Sunday, having received major upgrades since its debut in May’s Fuji 24 Hours.
