Zeck Will Run Again for Herzog Motorsports at Toledo
SUSSEX, Wis. (June 25, 2001) - After making his debut in the American Speed Association (ASA) two weeks ago at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., Ryan Zeck will get another shot at running against some of the fiercest competition in short-track racing. Zeck will get behind the wheel of the No. 22 Herzog Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo for this Sunday's Glass City 300 to be held at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio.
Zeck stunned the crowd and his fellow competitors at the last event on the ASA schedule, leading 74 laps of the 300-lap feature in his very first start in the American Speed Association. Zeck took the lead after the team opted not to pit and managed to hold off seasoned drivers and fresher tires for almost one third of the race. Zeck kept the No. 22 out of trouble and crossed the finish line in the seventh position, posting another top-10 finish for the Herzog Motorsports team.
With a race under his belt and 74 laps of practice running at the front of the field, Zeck is hoping that he will be leading during the most critical lap of this Sunday's race - the last. The University of North Carolina-Charlotte mechanical engineering graduate wants to bring home a win for Herzog Motorsports and the hard-working crew.
"The team was great to work with, and I feel that they are my biggest advantage going into the race," stated the 25-year-old Zeck. "I have 300 laps of race experience and that gives me confidence."
Randy Herzog, co-owner of Herzog Motorsports, is excited to have Zeck back in the seat of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. "Ryan did a great job at Odessa. We are looking forward to a strong run and hopefully a top-five finish," stated Herzog.
Herzog Motorsports is a successful, championship-winning race team. Based in St. Joseph, Mo.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Milwaukee, Wis., Herzog Motorsports fields teams in the NASCAR Busch Series, and the American Speed Association.
Toledo Speedway will host the American Speed Association for this weekend's Glass City 300 beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST. The 10th race of the 2001 ASA schedule, marking the halfway point of the season, will be broadcast live on The National Network (TNN).
