TWIN MOTORSPORTS LEGENDS, ASA AND WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY,
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 20, 2006) -- Two organizations with longstanding history in motorsports -- the ASA Member Track program and Williams Grove Speedway -- announced that they have joined together for the remainder of the 2006 season.
Located in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Williams Grove Speedway ranks among the most legendary racetracks in the United States. In continual operation since the gates first swung open in 1939, this half-mile clay oval has become known as one of the best Sprint Car tracks in the country. Over the years, so many famous drivers have turned laps at Williams Grove Speedway, including Ted Horn, AJ Foyt and Mario Andretti.
Today, the racetrack not only features its own weekly Friday night program, but also hosts several traveling tours, including three visits by the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. The first visit will be on May 26, 27, followed by a three day July 20-22 stint. The final WoO event will be the $50,000-to-win race on September 29, 30. Other special events include the URC Sprint Cars on June 9 in their $4,000-to-win challenge, Monster Trucks, and more.
The regular track divisions include 410 and 358 Sprints, as well as 14 Saturday night shows with Super Sportsman, Late Models and Street Stock divisions. The season has already started and complete schedule information, including directions, track records, tickets, photos and more can be found online at www.WilliamsGrove.com. Alternately, you can also telephone the track at (717) 697-5000 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
With their 38-year history, the ASA Member Track program was a natural fit to partner with this season according to Williams Grove Speedway track owner/promoter Morgan Hughes.
"We are really pleased to be a Level II member of the ASA Member Track program and to be able to extend to our weekly competitors one of the best insurance policies ever presented to the short track community," said Hughes.
"Our basic reason for doing this was to join with the ASA and it's insurance group so that we could offer our participants the benefits of greater coverage. Obviously, in racing, insurance coverage is a huge comfort for the racers," Hughes added.
Among the many benefits they receive, racetracks and regional series joining the ASA Member Track program are eligible for the $500,000 participant accident medical insurance policy.
"It's quite exciting to have another track as prestigious as Williams Grove Speedway become part of our program as it really proves that what we are doing is wanted in the short track community," said Dennis Huth, president of the ASA Member Track program. "There are so few racetracks left anymore than can be considered 'legendary' and without a doubt this is at the top of the list of those in that small group. We are just so pleased to welcome them aboard."
"We look forward to working with Dennis and his staff at ASA to expand our working relationship so that the all our fans and competitors are really the benefactors," said Hughes.
