2004 Inductees named for West Coast Stock Car Hall Of Fame

August 20, 2004: The West Coast Stock Car Hall Of Fame announced today the inductees for 2004.

In the pre-modern era (before 1970) the inductees are:

Parky Nall: crew chief for Ron Hornaday Sr. and the championship winning Galpin Ford team. Later moving to NC and working with Robert Yates and many other top NASCAR Winston cup Teams.

Frank Galpin: Team owner of one of the west coast top racing teams in the 60's winning numerous races and 2 championships.

Clay Smith: Crew chief, engine builder, cam grinder and innovator. Winner of many races-stockcar, sprint, Indy and the Pan American road race.

Johnny Mantz: Winner of many stock car races including the first Darlington 500, plus numerous races up and down the coast not only as a stock car driver but in Indy cars, sprints and the Pan American road races.

In the modern era(1970 to present):

George Jefferson: As a car owner and crew chief George won many races with his brother Harry (6 victories) not only on the west coast but in the south as well. Daytona 500 winner Derrick Cope drove for George as did many northwest racers.

Bill Sedgwick: Two time Winston West Champion ('91 and '92) Bill Sedgewick has a total of 17 career victories and was '89 Rookie of the Year as well as finishing 2nd in points.

The 3rd Annual West Coast Stock Car Hall Of Fame banquet will be held on October 22, 2004 in Monrovia, California at the Holiday Inn on West Huntington Dr..
