SOUTHERN ALL-STARS: Chupp wins in Tennessee CAPSULES: Weekend results for SUPR, NASCAR =================================== SOUTHERN ALL-STAR DIRT SERIES
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Saturday) Randle Chupp, effectively working the high side at Tennessee Motor Speedway, rallied in the second half of the race and battled past leader Scott Sexton for his first Southern All-Star victory. Chupp, who won $3,000 for the 50-lapper, was followed across the finish line by Bo Shirley, polesitter Jeff Walker, H.E. Vineyard and Steve Casebolt on the 3/8-mile oval. Scott Curtis, Dale Finley, Lamar Winkle, Mike Luna and Rick Rodgers finished sixth through 10th.
Chupp was in fourth place after a lap-24 caution, but moved to the high side on the restart and got around Shirley and then Walker. Setting his sights on Sexton, Chupp grabbed the lead on the 39th lap as the leaders made contact. Sexton's car climbed the front-stretch wall and the right side of his car was sheared off as it went off the track through the Turn-1 pit entrance. Restarting in the lead with 11 laps to go, Chupp held off Shirley the rest of the way for the 50-lap victory.
