The Wenatchee, Washington based Washington Apple Commission has announced that they will be backing driver Ricky Bryant, and his BG Motorsports team, as primary sponsor for the 2001 season in the ASA AC Delco Series. This marks the 3rd straight year that Washington Apples will be Bryant's primary sponsor. The last 2 years Washington Apples partnered with Bryant in the Goody's Dash Series. Washington Apples Domestic Marketing Director, Jim Doherty felt that the ASA AC Delco Series was the perfect opportunity to implement many of the successful marketing strategies,of the last 2 years, on a national basis. Jim stated, " We are thrilled to be marketing & competing in the ASA Series. The ASA Series is a top notch professional racing series who can give Washington Apples the kind of national exposure we are looking for. We will be able to give our field staff excellent support as we partner with retail food stores all over the country".

Bryant, who is coming off a very successful 2000 campaign, intends to compete for the coveted Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year award when the new ASA season kicks off on February 17th at Florida Speedpark in St. Augustine, Florida. During the 2000 race season Bryant finished 2nd in the Goody's Dash Series while collecting 10 top five, and 16 top ten finishes in 18 races. Bryant also opened the 2000 Dash season by capturing the Bud Pole award at Daytona with a speed of 162.437 MPH. In 2000 Bryant also began his ASA career by entering, and competing in 8 races.

When the new season kicks into high gear, in 7 weeks, Bryant will also have another familiar partner to assist him in his efforts. A Bryant - Granelli Motorsports spokesperson announced that crew chief Wesley Page will be returning for a 3rd straight year to act as Bryant's crew chief in ASA. Bryant was needless to say very happy about this development, "Wes & I have been through a lot these last 2 years, and the relationship we have built is a good one. His commitment & loyalty to me and BG Motorsports means a lot. Having someone I am used to will be very important when we face the kind of tough competition that the ASA Series offers".

There will also be some other long term partners remaining on board with the BG Motorsports team in 2001. Associates sponsors , PPG Automotive Finishes, Airborn Coatings, and the Prime Hospitality Corporation will be back on board the #35 Washington Apples Pontiac Grand Prix. More announcements will be forthcoming shortly on the entire associate sponsors program for 2001.

Once the last of the New Year's Eve celebrations ends, and the New Year's Day hangovers subside Bryant, and his BG Motorsports team, will begin a nonstop schedule of events all leading towards the first race of the season. After a quick trip to Lake Tahoe, on January 5th, to appear at the Washington Apples winter meetings Bryant will hit the track with a full scale testing schedule. Ricky commented, "I hope to be able to test a couple times at St. Augustine, Lakeland, and South Boston before the season begins. This will give us some practice time at tracks where 3 of the first 4 races will be held. I wish we could also go to Irwindale, but that is too expensive, and the time is too short. We plan to be as ready as we possibly can".

Ricky will also squeeze in his annual appearance at the Pennzoil 2001 Motorsports Show in Philadelphia. The Pennzoil show will be held on January 12, 13, 14 at the Fort Washington Expo Center, in Fort Washington, Pa. The Pennzoil show, which offers 270,000 square feet of exhibits, is one of the largest race fan shows in the US. Ricky will appear at the show, to sign autographs, all 3 days. While at the show Bryant will also unveil his new Washington Apples ASA Pontiac Grand Prix.
