VP Racing Fuels extends contract

PENDLETON, Ind. (March 1, 2002) -- Officials of the American Speed Association announced today that they have extended their agreement with Texas-based VP Racing Fuels to be the exclusive supplier of all racing fuel to teams competing in the 2002 ASA Racing Series. Teams will continue using the VP Racing Fuels product known as "Motorsport 93."

VP Racing Fuels has been producing fuel for the motorsports community since 1975. Their track record is impressive, as they have powered the last 25 NHRA Pro Stock Champions, as well as numerous champions in off-road racing, offshore powerboat racing and a irplane racing. They added the 2001 ASA National Champion and Rookie of the Year Johnny Sauter to their list last season.

"I'm very happy to have VP Racing Fuels back with ASA for another season," said ASA Tech Director Joe Balash. "VP Racing Fuel is a quality product provided by quality people.

"Fuel is obliviously a very important part of our engine program, VP Racing Fuel is a very high quality, very consistent product. The people at VP are in the racing business, they know our needs and they provide products and services that the whole ASA Ra cing community appreciate. Their new association with ASA and our series underscores their range of diversity and commitment to the motorsports market, including short track stock car racing."

The announcement also states that VP Fuels will continue to contribute a total of $20,000 toward race purses with an additional $5,000 year-end series bonus. As part of the contingency awards, VP Fuels will sponsor the $750 "Front Runner" Award for a drive r who can win an event from the pole position. It will also sponsor the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Race Award, presenting $250 to the highest-finishing registered rookie at each event.

VP Racing Fuels will be on hand and ready to provide full service to the teams at the series-opening Florida 200 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., on March 23-24, 2002. The spec fuel for the series will be a street legal 93 (R=M/2) octane un leaded gasoline.
