Unforgettable Evening at Valley Speedway!
(6/19/2005 Grain Valley, MO) It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, well last night at the Valley Speedway the on the track action that was being performed was a true thing of beauty. The sun was shinning bright and over 105 cars set their sites on claiming to honors in their respective divisions. An overwhelming amount of M&M Motorsports Street Stocks and Modifieds were on hand and gave the fans on hand a treat with 2 - B features. A good crowd was on hand as well to witness what is becoming a staple in the Kansas City metro area, terrific racing action at Valley Speedway by all classes.
The Modified make-up feature would see Justin Boney start on the outside of the front row with Paul Knight on the pole. Boney would quickly jump out to the lead before hard charger Jimmy Dowell would mount a challenge. Boney and Dowell would run side by side for several laps with each of them exchanging the lead several times at the start finish line. As they approached slower cars it was Boney who was able to navigate better and that advantage would prove fatal to Dowell who would finish second.Robert Kluender would finish 3rd with a terrific run from the 10th place starting position.
The M&M Motorsports Street Stocks would wage war in 2 B-Mains before final action in the feature. With only 2 transfer spots available fans saw hard fast racing all over the speedway. In the end the F-2 of Darren Shore, 21m Mike Ladish, 09 Josh Stephens and the 80 of Jimmy Ngo would make the transfer. The feature would see Bob King on the pole with the 7 of Billy Huffmaster on the outside. A great 3 way battle for the lead ensued with the 37 of Lanny Askins joining the fray. Half way through however Askins would spin and be taken out of contention. When the checkers flew it was King taking the Century 21 Wiser Homes feature victory.
The Modifieds were hot and heavy all night long with several GUNS in the filed such as Justin Boney, Tim Setzer, Jim Moody, Buddy Thompson, Matt Johnson, Bob King and host of others wanting to stake their claim to victory lane at Valley Speedway. The heat races were just outstanding with Bryan Rigsby, Johnson, Kluender and Boney picking up the wins. Once again it was necessary to run 2 B features due to the high car count of 40 Modifieds on hand. The top 2 from each B would transfer and those would go to the 8w of Jordan Whitehead, 37 Chuck Stites, 91G Eddie Schwope III and the 9i of David McVey.
The A feature would see the 12B of Rigsby on the pole with the 5j of Matt Johnson on the outside. The feature would go green the entire way completely caution free and not a fan in the house would use their seat. At the drop of the green Rigsby would get the advantage with a hard charging Johnson and Boney on his tail. The rule of the night ride 3 wheels and make it stick. Boney and Johnson would wage war and use the high side to get around Rigsby. For 4 laps the two would race side by side until encountering slower cars. Once again Boney would prove to be the master of traffic and pulled out to a near straightaway advantage. The 00 of Jim Moody was also on a tear and would climb from 8th to finish 3rd. In the end it was Boney in the Century 21 Wiser Home Sales victory lane followed by the 5j of Johnson.
Lately it has been the "Jammin" Jimmy Morris show with the Valley Late Models at the Valley would it be another evening with the 9M in victory lane. The 2nd heat of the evening was one for the record books. Virgil Jeffries in the 4 car put on a show that the fans will be talking about for years to come. Virgil used each and every part of the race track even hitting the berm in turns 3-4 and going airborne to take a position. Jeffries would nudge past the 22 of Kevin Coyne on the last lap to take the win. In the feature it would be 58 of Jason Estes on the pole with Jeffries on the outside.
On the drop of the green Estes got the jump with Jeffries and the 73b of Shad Badder battling for 2nd. Neither car would use the left front tire all evening long. Jeffries would get loose out of turn 2 and Badder would make the pass. Coyne who started 5th was now in this battle along with the 35e of Mountain Man Mark Evinger, and the 3k of Bubba Kline. A heavy collision entering turns 1 -2 between the 8 of Jeremy Johnson and the 27 of Josh Risendorf would bring out the red flag and a green white checker shortening the feature to 15 laps. On the green Estes would jump to the lead with Badder on 3 wheels looking for the inside line. When the white flag flew Estes would slip a bit high and that was all Badder needed to get to the inside and make the pass on the backstreach and make his first appearance in the Century 21 Wiser Home Sales victory lane.
The Hobby Stocks would see Dylan Askins lead from green to checkers ahead of the 27 of Mike Schouten. Once again they would go caution free with a great battle for 3rd between the 3 of Nic Bennett and the 12 of Casey Ellege and 43t of Larry Cooper. Cooper would have mechanical problems and that would give 3rd to Bennet.
