Utica-Rome Speedway To Salute Memory Of Nascar Legend Dale Earnhardt With Balloon Launch This Sunday

VERNON, NY - Sweet's Florist Station, located on Route 8 in West Edmeston, will be providing 200 balloons for the salute to fallen NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt during the 2001 season opener this Sunday May 6 at Utica-Rome Speedway.

200 balloons - 100 black and 100 white - will be let go shortly before the start of this Sunday's 40-lap feature for the mighty DIRT 358-Modifieds to salute Earnhardt, who tragically lost his life in the Daytona 500 this past February. Utica-Rome race fans are asked to wear Earnhardt clothing to help honor the memory of America's motorsports icon.

Also in race action this Sunday will be the DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and the Slingshots. The gates will open at 4pm, with racing beginning at 6pm and slingshot heats going green at 5:45pm.
