NEW UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY RETAINS DIRT MOTORSPORTS SANCTION FOR 40TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON IN 2001

VERNON, NY - The New Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon will be celebrating its 40TH Anniversary and will be sanctioned once again by DIRT Motorsports for the 2001-racing season. This will be the third consecutive year under DIRT Motorsports with the leadership of Track Promoters Eric and Gisele Kingsley.

In competition on a weekly basis on Sunday evenings at the popular half-mile will be the DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots. The 2001 season will kick off on Sunday May 6, and drivers and race fans alike will be eagerly anticipating the first green flag from Starter Chip Burdick.

Every DIRT sanctioned speedway receives special Super DIRT Series events, and New Utica-Rome is no exception.

The Sunoco Race Fuels 358 Modified Super DIRT Series will kick off its twenty-seven race schedule on Mother's Day May 13 with a 100-lap event at New Utica-Rome. Also in action will be the UFPO "Dig Safely" Sportsman Super DIRT Series in a special 30-lap event. Closing out the 2001 season will be the second appearance of the Sunoco Race Fuels 358-Modified Super DIRT Series in a 100-lap special, plus the Automobile Recyclers Association of New York (ARANY) Pro Stock Super DIRT Series in a 25-lap showdown of the best in the DIRT wide Pro Stock division.

The complete 2001 season schedule should be ready by mid-February.
