VERNON, NY -- Matt Sheppard easily outdistanced the competition and raindrops to take the win on John's Auto Restoration and Park's Trucking night. Bill Shantel, Jr., Jason Rood, Dave Pope, and Matt Norrie also were victorious under threatening skies. The entire program was ran in quick fashion and completed in two and half hours.

Paul Kinney and Joel Thomas led the 23-car starting field to the green flag with Kinney grabbing the early advantage. His advantage was short lived however as Dave Rauscher led the second circuit. Kinney would charge back to lead however, regaining the lead on lap 3. Kinney would continue to lead the field until lap 6 when Matt Sheppard, charging from 11th, would take over the lead.

Sheppard was easily handling the rest of the field at the halfway point with Mitch Gibbs, Kinney, Dale Planck, and Willy Decker chasing. Despite several cautions flags bringing the field together in the late stages of the race, Sheppard easily outraced the rest of the field for the remainder of the 30-lap event to collect his second win of the season. Gibbs would follow in second, with point leader Planck in third, Burley in fourth, and Decker crossed in fifth. Heat wins went to Kinney, Gibbs, and Sheppard.

Tim Mayne took the early in the 20-lap Sportsman feature event and would hold on to the top spot until lap 18 when Bill Shantel, Jr. powered by him on the outside of turn four. Shantel would lead the remaining two laps to take home his second win of the season, with Mayne, Bill Price, John Scarborough, and Jeremy Vunk completing the top five. Vunk and Mayne were the heat winners.

Brian Belden used the outside pole starting position to his advantage in the Pro Stock main event, grabbing the early lead. Belden's bid for his first ever DIRT Pro Stock victory came to an end as Oneida's Jason Rood slipped by him on lap 11 to take the lead. Despite heavy pressure from Buddy Hencke, Rood would lead the rest of the feature event to take his second victory of the 2003 season at Utica-Rome Speedway. Hencke finished in second, with Bret Belden in third, Brian Belden hanging on for fourth, and Tom Denton filling out the top five. This victory was Rood's second of the weekend as he won on Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway. Eric Vanderhoof and Rood took the two the qualifying events.

Ted Crawford led the first lap of the Pure Stock feature event only to lose it to Dave Pope on the second lap. Pope outraced Chuck Cushman to the finish of the 15-lap race to take his second win of the year. Rick Trexler, Herm Staats, and Jim Thomas would make up the rest of the top five. Cushman and Phil Norman were the victors in the Pure Stock qualifying events.

The Central New York Mini Sprints made their fourth stop of the season at the "Action Track of the East" and Matt Norrie took the win in the 15-lap contest. Cory Sparks, Doug Norrie, Bryan Howland, and Jered Fink chased Norrie across the line.
