VERNON, NY- In an effort to get race fans and race teams home at a decent hour to start their work week, Utica-Rome Speedway management has decided that for the 2004 season the starting time for a regular weekly show will be moved up by a half hour. The starting time will go from 6 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This new starting time will be for every weekly Sunday night show, with the exception of the three holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day Weekend).

"For most of our fans and race teams, Monday is a work day. By starting earlier, we plan on getting everyone home earlier on Sunday evenings" stated General Manager Chip Burdick. "In combination with the earlier starting time and a fast paced show, the fans and teams should be home at a decent hour" he continued. Pit gates will now open at 3 p.m. on for a weekly regular show. For Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekend shows, race time will be at 5 p.m., with pit gates opening at 2:30 p.m.

Action begins at Utica-Rome Speedway on April 17th and 18th with two days of practice sessions for all divisions. Pit gates will open at 11 a.m. with on track practice starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Pit admission will be set at $10 and grandstand admission will be free. The 43rd season at the Vernon kicks off on April 25th with Gates Cole Insurance and Wilber Duck Chevy presenting a 40 lap affair for the DIRT 358-Modifieds plus a regular show for the DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Four Cylinder Super Stocks.
